Suffolk cider maker Aspall is introducing Deben Draught and Three Berry ciders under the Waddlegoose label to meet the growing demand for premium craft ciders.
Waddlegoose Lane Deben Draught (4.6% ABV), a contemporary sparkling cider, will be available in Tesco stores nationwide from March.
Waddlegoose Lane Three Berry (3.8% ABV) cider with hedgerow fruit is also available to the off-trade for the first time. Both Deben Draught and Three Berry variants will also be available in polyethylene terephthalate (PET) to meet demand from festivals and outdoor events.
The Waddlegoose Lane brand, based on a beautiful old bridleway, started life as a limited edition cider for the 2013 JD Wetherspooon’s Cider Festival where it performed best of all the ciders in the festival. Since then it has been exclusively available to the on-trade on draught or as a range of four craft bag-in-box ciders.
Henry Chevallier Guild, who with his brother Barry now runs the eighth generation family business, said: “Having introduced our range of craft cask/bag-in-box ciders under the Waddlegoose Lane brand, it became apparent after many conversations with our customers that there is in fact a yawning gap in the ‘mainstream yet great quality’ keg cider arena.”
