British water brand Wenlock Spring has rebranded its rPET plastic bottles in a move to illustrate its natural origins.
The redesigned labels showcase a ‘sky to spring’ concept, incorporating the rock strata of the Wenlock Edge limestone escarpment through which Wenlock Spring water filters.
Wenlock said the ancient layers of limestone are unique to the source – which has been in use since 1086 – and give its water a “unique blend of minerals and taste”.
With the introduction of over 50% recycled plastic into its rPET bottle range, Wenlock Spring has invested in a new, efficient bottling line.
The brand can now produce 15,000 bottles per hour, increasing to 18,000 by the end of the year. Wenlock Spring’s whole bottling process takes place on the site in South Shropshire where it recycles 99% of all packaging and uses a carbon-neutral biomass system for hot water and heating.
Earlier this year Wenlock switched to bottles made with 50% recycled plastic in a move, it said, before “political policy, taxes or green incentives make such measures compulsory”.
The brand said that as the UK recycles more plastic, it will aim to achieve bottles made from 100% recycled plastic.
Wenlock Spring water is available exclusively to the hospitality sector.
