Applied Nutrition has announced the appointment of Marnie Millard OBE as an independent non-executive director (NED), effective immediately. Millard, who brings extensive FMCG experience, previously served as group chief executive for
Nichols, the parent company of Vimto, from 2013 to 2020. Her career since then includes several prominent NED positions, including chair at UA92, Pura and Marks Electrical, as well as an NED role at Belvoir Fruit Farms. Her past roles also include chair of the board at Kidly and NED for Finsbury Food Group. In addition to her corporate roles, Millard is a fellow of the Society of Leadership Fellows at St George’s House and a board mentor at Critical Eye. She has also served as chair for the CBI in the North West and was an advisor to the board of International Trade. In 2018, she was awarded an OBE for her contributions to International Trade and Business in the North West. Applied Nutrition CEO Thomas Ryder welcomed Millard’s appointment, highlighting: “We are thrilled to welcome Marnie to the Applied Nutrition Board. Her extensive experience in leadership, strategic growth, and international trade will be invaluable as we continue to expand our global footprint and grow within the nutritional supplements market, including various hydration, recovery, and energy drinks.” Millard added: "With the company's strong foundations in product innovation and international expansion, I am eager to contribute my expertise in brand marketing, innovation, and people development to support the Board in its next stage of growth and success". This announcement follows the appointment of Andy Bell CBE as Applied Nutrition’s chairman in February 2024. Applied Nutrition, founded in 2014 by Ryder, has seen substantial growth in recent years, expanding from £11 million in sales in FY2020 to £62 million in FY2023. The company's products are available in over 60 countries. It manufactures 85% of its products in a BRC grade AA+ accredited facility and recently opened an office in Plano, Texas, to enhance its presence in the US market, securing national listings in Walmart within its first year. Applied Nutrition has also established partnerships with various professional sports teams and athletes, including Fulham FC, Rangers FC, Wigan Warriors RLFC, Paddy ‘the Baddy’ Pimblett and former Tour de France champion Sir Bradley Wiggins.
