Freja expands portfolio with instant bone broth sachets

Freja expands portfolio with instant bone broth sachets

Bone broth brand Freja has expanded its portfolio with the launch of instant bone broth sachets.

Crafted as an alternative to the ‘ultra-processed stock cubes currently dominating the market,’ Freja’s bone broth sachets have all-natural, simple ingredients list and bring the health benefits associated with bone broth.

The broths are high in protein, packed with collagen and nutrients and are available in beef and chicken varieties. These clean-label stock cube-alternatives offer significant health benefits by adding protein – 11 grams per serving – along with collagen. The beef variety provides 7 grams of collagen types I and III per serving, while the chicken variant contains 6 grams of type II collagen.

The sachets are also said to support gut and joint health, as well as hair, skin, teeth and nails, while also balancing the body’s electrolytes – magnesium, potassium and sodium. The gluten- and dairy-free sachets contain bone broth powder, natural yeast extract and dried herbs and vegetables.

Freja’s co-founder Ed Armitage said: “The stock cube category is emblematic of everything that's wrong with our food today. Traditional stocks and broths, which are some of the most nutritionally dense and complete foods around, have been replaced by little cubes of ultra-processed rubbish with almost no nutritional value. Other food categories have had their ‘better for you' moments, but nothing has really changed in the stock cube aisle for 30 years, and the clean eating, functional food buyer is completely excluded from the category.”

Armitage continued: “We aim to change that with our Instant Bone Broth, offering a convenient and affordable alternative that not only tastes better but provides significant nutritional value. The products have taken two years to develop and mark an exciting new step as we continue on our mission to nourish the world with bone broth.”

In January, Freja raised £2 million in a funding round with support from industry leaders. Since then, it launched its Bone Broth Shake product line in July, offering a convenient and nutritious way for consumers to enjoy the benefits of bone broth.

The new bone broth sachets are available to purchase now from Ocado and on the company’s website.
