Engineering firm Royal HaskoningDHV acquires food specialist Uticon

Engineering firm Royal HaskoningDHV acquires food specialist Uticon

Dutch engineering and project management firm, Royal HaskoningDHV, has acquired Uticon, a Belgian-Dutch engineering company specialising in the food and beverage industry.

Royal HaskoningDHV, an independent company dating back to 1881, integrates engineering, design, consultancy, software and technology solutions.

The acquisition of Uticon strengthens Royal HaskoningDHV's capabilities in designing and implementing production facilities for food and drink manufacturers, allowing the company to provide end-to-end services from feasibility to implementation.

Marije Hulshof, CEO of Royal HaskoningDHV, said: "We are delighted to welcome the Uticon team. The acquisition is the next step in our existing successful collaboration on many projects. Together, we can provide clients in the food and beverage industry with a comprehensive range of services and continue to grow."

Uticon is an independent, multidisciplinary engineering firm focused on the food industry, founded in 1985. With about 100 employees, the company aims to help clients realise projects ranging from small renovations to large greenfield new construction.

Uticon aims to make food production more sustainable by enabling clients to get the most out of their raw materials while using minimal energy.

"This is also the next step for us to realise our growth ambitions," said René de Roos, managing director of Uticon. "By joining forces, we gain access to international markets, other clients, services and locations of Royal HaskoningDHV."

The acquisition comes as food and beverage manufacturers face increasing pressure to improve the sustainability of their production facilities and processes. Royal HaskoningDHV says the combined capabilities will allow the company to better support clients in making their operations more environmentally friendly.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
