AMEInfo has reported that The Coca-Cola Company is involved in a two-month water distribution campaign in Manama, Bahrain, handing out chilled drinking water and beverages to people working in the summer heat.
The brainchild of a group of young and energetic volunteers, the initiative has received the whole-hearted support of Cola-Cola, which has contributed 3,000 bottles and cans, as well as Coca-Cola caps to shield workers from the scorching sun.
A spokesperson said: "The importance of water to all of us cannot be understated. Most of us take water for granted, so we hope this water project will motivate others to be more aware of how vital this resource is. We thank the government for enforcing the new law that prohibits working in the heat during peak hours. We also thank The Coca-Cola Company for its generous support."
Leila Rajkumar, Public Relations Manager for the Coca-Cola Bottling Plant, said: "We're immensely proud to participate in this campaign. Coca-Cola has always been committed to supporting the communities in which we operate, and we're happy to back initiatives such as this one, which is a brilliant idea on the part of these young community members. They are an asset to Bahrain and we congratulate them for their ingenuity and compassion."
