14 – exactly half – involved the US, 10 being entirely US-based. France was the next most active country on five, then China on three. The overall spread stretched across 15 countries.
Alcohol led the way in April with 10 transactions. Second was packaging on five. Dairy was third on four, followed by soft drinks and ingredients on three each.
There were two big deals: Silgan’s US takeover of Graham Packaging for $4.1bn and Diamond Foods’ purchase of the Pringles brand for $2.35bn.
