I’ve been puzzling over a recent United Nations report, which concludes that it would take an investment of $267bn per year for 15 years to end global hunger. This is apparently equivalent to just US $160 per year for each person living in extreme poverty.
What I find puzzling is why anyone would not support this.
The proposed investment amounts to just 0.3% of global economic output.
The expected average increase in global economic output is also 0.3%.
In other words, huge social gain for no net cost.
