Beverage Innovation functionaldrinks Awards winners

At a special gala during the 7th InnoBev Global Beverages Summit in the Pavilion Room at the Ronald Reagan Building in Washington DC, the finalists and winners in the 2011 Beverage Innovation functionaldrinks Awards were announced.
Organised by FoodBev Media’s Beverage Innovation magazine, in partnership with Zenith International’s functionaldrinks newsletter, the awards attracted more than 150 entries from 22 countries in 16 categories.
Categories ranged from products including natural functional, energy, alertness and beauty drinks, to packaging and ingredients. The judging panel met in London in March to select finalists and winners.
“Once again, we were impressed with the range and variety of entries in this annual awards competition, designed to focus on excellence and innovation in the international functional drinks industry,” said Bill Bruce, FoodBev Media group editorial director, who chaired the judging panel and hosted the awards ceremony.
Co-hosting the presentation, Beverage Innovation magazine managing editor Claire Phoenix said: “These awards demonstrate how ingredient progress meets the consumer on-shelf. Advances in anti-ageing, drinks that help prevent iron deficiency in pregnancy, and those that provide natural energy or can help you get to sleep, all indicate a move to bringing well researched science into our daily lives, as vouched for by the nutritionists on our judging panel.”
All the innovations entered into the awards will feature in the 2011 Beverage Innovation functionaldrinks Awards Showcase magazine, included with the May issue of Beverage Innovation, which also highlights the finalists and winners.
