The lockers, which have been trialled over the past year by partners (employees) at Waitrose’s head office in Bracknell, Berkshire, will be installed in 10 locations (subject to planning permission). The trial locations include:

Orders will be stored in ambient, chilled and frozen temperature-controlled lockers that can be refilled several times in a day. Customers can place orders online or the Waitrose smartphone app, and will be sent a text message with a PIN. They then drive up to the Click & Collect lockers, enter the PIN and collect their shopping.
“We are very excited to be able to offer our Waitrose customers this innovative service across the transport network which, if successful, we hope to expand further,” said Waitrose ecommerce director Robin Phillips. “We are committed to finding shopping solutions that make the most sense for our shoppers and are as convenient as possible, as well as being ambitious in terms of the technology used.”
