Emmi is selling the yogurt manufacturer Trentinalatte SpA in Roverè della Luna, Italy, to the Livia Group based in Munich and Vienna. Emmi had originally taken over Trentinalatte in July 2006, with the aim of building up a strong base in the Italian yogurt business.
As Emmi explained on 27 August 2014 when presenting its results for the first six months of 2014, an impairment has been made necessary by ‘the difficult economic situation in Italy’. All options for Trentinalatte’s future have been considered carefully. Having thoroughly scrutinised a large number of potential buyers, Emmi has decided to sell the company to the Livia Group.
In the Livia Group, we’re very glad to have found an investor who is capable of doing justice to the potential of the company’s employees and of its location, said a company statement.
The Livia Group will be taking on all employees and has the expertise required to guide Trentinalatte into a successful future. The completion of the transaction is subject to the consent of the municipality and of the province.
The Livia Group is an industrial holding company based in Munich and Vienna, with a wide range of investment interests including corporates, real property, art and agriculture.
The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price.
