US-based NuZee Coffee Blenders has entered a 50/50 joint venture agreement with Mexican coffee company Industrias Marino (El Marino).
El Marino, headquartered in Mazatlan, Mexico, is a major manufacturer and marketer of coffee, tea and related products, operating dozens of brands that are sold across Mexico.
Under the terms of the joint venture, El Marino will integrate NuZee single-serve pour-over coffee pouches into its brand portfolio.
The joint-venture is a one-year agreement, but the agreement will reportedly renew automatically, unless terminated by either party.
Masa Higsahida, CEO of NuZee said: “This agreement with El Marino allows NuZee to expand our geographic footprint beyond the United States and Asia to Mexico, Central America and South America.
“At the same time, El Marino will have the opportunity to expand its market presence by selling its well-known brands of coffee in NuZee’s unique single-serve, pour-over format.”
Arturo Lizarraga Mercado, director general of El Marino, added: “We believe this agreement with NuZee will provide promising prospects for new retail growth and expansion.
“Coffee Blenders’ single-serve pour-over coffee offers a unique new way for our customers to enjoy coffee and tea in their homes, at work or on the go without a brewer.”
