The partnership capitalises on both companies’ equities and capabilities in engaging health-conscious consumers, and officially launches with a first-of-its-kind, easy-to-blend version of the whole grain Quaker Oats consumers trust to the roster of boosts available in Jamba Juice stores nationwide.
The new Quaker-branded boost delivers at least 16 grams, or one full serving, of whole grains and enables consumers to enjoy the delicious, whole fruit smoothies they love while getting the added benefit of whole grains. This new addition to the Jamba product line serves as a convenient solution for people seeking simple ways to lead healthier lives and is available for $0.25.
“We’re pleased to enter into a product development partnership with an innovative partner like Quaker and launch our first project together,” said Jamba chairman, president and CEO James D White. “Jamba and Quaker both support healthy living and offer better-for-you products and programmes for consumers. This will be a major step forward in our mutual mission of developing and offering innovative snack or meal solutions and helping fuel healthy families.”
Americans continue to fall short of getting the whole grains nutrition experts recommend. The 2010 US Dietary Guidelines recommend that at least half of all grains consumed be whole, yet less than 15% of people get the 3-5 minimum daily servings. In addition to fibre, whole grains provide a number of essential vitamins and nutrients, and eating the recommended amount each day as part of a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol can help reduce the risk of developing heart disease, and may contribute to maintaining a healthy weight.
“As the leader in oats, it’s imperative we continue to develop new and transformative ways for people to enjoy whole grains, which play an essential role promoting overall health,” said Quaker Foods North America president Jose Luis Prado. “This not only includes developing breakthrough, oat-based products, but also working with critical partners like Jamba Juice to broaden oats accessibility. We’re excited to align with them on this project.”
