PepsiCo’s potato chip brand Frito-Lay has introduced Cheetos Sweetos, the first sweet variety of the snack in the brand’s 67-year history.
It swaps Cheetos’ signature cheese flavour for “cinammon-sugar puffs”, and was developed by the brand’s development team. The product launch will be accompanied by the new “eggerator”, which will allow visitors to Cheetos’ website to decorate their own Easter egg and enter a prize draw for the chance to win $10,000.
Cheetos said: “This sweet new offering takes the spring snacking experience beyond chocolate bunnies and marshmallow candies, providing a fun twist to traditional treats.”
Jeff Klein, vice president of marketing for Frito-Lay, said: “Whether it’s our Cheetos bag of bones Halloween-themed snack or first-of-its-kind Cheetos mix-ups product, we’re always looking for ways to add some playful fun to the snack aisle. So this year – in true Cheetos fashion – we decided to turn spring snacking on its head with the most unexpected treat in decades. Move over chocolate bunny, there’s a sweet new snack in town.”
