Supported by the United Nations through the United Nations Food & Agriculture Organisation, The Unido Investment and Technology Promotion Office, and the World Food Programme, the event is entitled ‘More Technology, Safety & Quality, Less Hunger – from Post-Harvesting in Emerging Countries to Consumer’.
“We’ve recently learned about the decision of the Ministry of Agricultural, Environmental and Food Policies to grant us its patronage in organising an event which will be discussing such vital issues for all mankind,” said Guido Corbella, CEO of Ipack-Ima spa. “The world food crisis is one of the hottest topics, and never before has it been so important to give decisive answers. Adequate production systems can play a fundamental role in the supporting, growing markets to reduce the waste of food resources and ensure consumption of safe food.”
Ipack-Ima, the international exhibition dedicated to technology and materials for packaging, food processing and logistics, takes place in Milan, 24-28 March 2009.
The event already has 9,000 visitors pre-registered and 1,000 exhibitors taking part. It will be held alongside Grafitalia (the Graphic Arts, Print Media & Communication exhibition) and Converflex (the event for Package Printing and Converting) to provide visitors with even more reasons to attend.
This year, Ipack-Ima has signed an agreement with Italmopa (the Italian Milling Industry Association), which will further strengthen the technologies on offer for grain-based foods, cereal processing and milling.
As a result of the cooperation, the official meeting of the Association of European Bran Producers will be held during Ipack-Ima, and exhibitors specialising in the technologies and products designed for the processing and packaging of pasta, bread, pizza and snacks (as well as many different flours) will participate.
