Can-Pack Metal Closures has opened a new production plant in Tarnów, southeastern Poland.
The new factory, specialising in crown cork and pull-off closure production, combines the production capacity of two former plants with a total volume exceeding 10 billion pieces a year. The plant is equipped with the latest equipment – including Can-Pack Metal Closures’s own technology for embossing, an automated packaging system and laser marking equipment among others.
Can-Pack Metal Closures CEO Marián Miškov said: “I am proud that we have succeeded in such a short period – one year – in planning, constructing, equipping and starting production in the new plant in Tarnów.”
The construction of the plant forms part of an overall reorganisation of Can-Pack Metal Closures’s production process, with an emphasis on improving its efficiency. The company has invested €7 million in a new high-technology printing and coating centre in Kosice, Slovakia.
The facility comprises a new coating line, UV printing line and an extension to its production halls. The upgrades have increased the site’s capacity, which is used to support its operations in Poland and Ukraine.
Can-Pack Metal Closures operates further facilities in Spain, France, the Czech Republic and Egypt with group-wide production capacity exceeding 30 billion crown corks a year.
Improvements to its global capacity have been supported by recent innovations, like developing lightweight crown corks, its own modern embossing technology, designing a production facility for aluminum pull-off closures, and permanent improvement of Can-Pack’s printing possibilities.
