The annual review is based on a thorough analysis of economic, environmental and social performance, assessing issues such as corporate governance, risk management, climate change mitigation, supply chain standards and labour practices.
“We’re proud of this achievement and very satisfied with our performance, especially in the areas of innovation management and health & nutrition,” said Jeff Hogue, VP of global sustainability. “The index is important to us as it assesses how well we identify and manage potential business risks and opportunities in the economic, environmental and social areas. It also allows us to transparently inform current and potential investors of our progress towards sustainability.”
The top 10% of the 2,500 largest companies in the Dow Jones Global Indexes are selected as components of DJSI World. Of the 66 companies listed in the food and beverage sector, only seven companies are chosen for the sustainability index, with Danisco being the only business-to-business supplier.
The results of Dow Jones’ annual review provide asset managers with reliable and objective benchmarks to manage sustainability portfolios.
