The juice drink featured on the Channel 4 show on 11 December. In the programme Heston made his own version of the drink using a blend of exotic juices, herbs and spices.
He then added Cava to make it more attractive to adults. The drink was served in a giant carton into which people poked their heads to be greeted by Heston in a jungle setting with glasses of his Hest’Um Bongo concoction.
The juice company has already created two new flavours of Um Bongo which are set to launch into Tesco next year. One litre packs of Orange and Tropical will feature on the shelves of around 700 stores priced at £1.29.
Currently, Um Bongo juice drinks are available in 200ml multipacks from Asda and Ocado.
James Logan, commercial director of the Gerber Juice Company, which licenses the Um Bongo brand, said: “We are delighted we were able to help Heston to create an enormous version of Um Bongo and we feel sure its appearance on the show and the new flavours will spark a renewed interest in the brand.”
