DairyNZ has launched its ‘Go Dairy’ education website, for teachers and their pupils.
DairyNZ corporate communications manager Sarah Fraser said: “The resource had three key criteria: it had to meet an identified gap in the curriculum, it had to be easy to use for the teachers, appealing to the children and to use dairying as the context for learning.”
It has been developed by education specialists Lift Education and is aligned with the New Zealand curriculum, and when completed next year, will cover levels one to eight.
Levels one and two focus on the concept of innovation, with enterprise being the feature for levels three and four, and levels five to eight focusing on sustainability.
Fraser said: “We’ve already had a great response from teachers who have had a preview of the site. They say in addition to it being a great foundation for inquiry-based learning, they can also see it being useful for boys’ literacy and ESOL teaching.”
