Alfa Laval has claimed that its energy-efficient impellers help to lower the power consumption of its agitators by up to 80%.
Its agitators have a flexible, modular design that lends itself to ease of installation and maintenance, Alfa Laval said. The design ensures quality, performance and cost savings while the purpose-built agitators have smooth surfaces that promote optimal flow and meet stringent hygienic standards in the food, dairy and beverage industries.
The EnSaFoil impellers, as well as Alfa Laval’s specially developed EnSaFerm impellers for fermentation, absorb the heat of the product for reduced energy consumption. Based on extensive fluid dynamic research, the unique shape of impellers makes them up to 400% more efficient than impellers with a standard pitch.
Besides minimising energy loss, the impellers operate at reduced speeds without reducing pumping capacity. This means that the product is exposed to very low shear stress and, compared to agitators with conventional impellers, significantly lowers energy consumption.
Configuration for use in sterile and aseptic applications is also possible, the Swedish-headquartered company added, while sizing and customising the agitator to the specific task ensures optimised power consumption and pricing.
