Gourmio has developed a new food delivery concept that offers consumers in the UK a recipe box full of gourmet Italian food – “the first time” a food box has featured fine, artisan food from a single cuisine, the start-up claimed.
Gourmio’s high quality boxes contain hand-selected ingredients and recipes from a variety of Italy’s food regions, with preparation presented in six individual steps to give consumers the confidence to cook authentic Italian food at home. Dishes are created by Gourmio’s chefs in Italy and described as “perfect for a mid-week treat or a special weekend meal”, upgrading the recipe box offering to consumers across the UK.
Gourmio co-founder Marco Sargiani said his idea came about while eating burrata cheese on holiday in Puglia, southern Italy, and decided that he wanted to devise a new way to help some of the country’s 75,000 producers of speciality ingredients to export their products to the UK.
“At Gourmio we are so passionate about where our ingredients come from and through our recipe boxes we marry authenticity with wonderful recipes, so you can cook and enjoy the real flavours of Italy at home,” said Sargiani.
Gourmio also selects fresh vegetables from British suppliers to guarantee the freshness of meals such as ember-grilled beef brasato pot roast, aubergine parmigiana and wild boar pappardelle. Prices typically begin from £18.50 for two people.
