Michigan-based NutriTwist has unveiled a new naturally sweetened soft drink for children in US retail location, designed as a healthy beverage alternative by founder Peter Andoni for his diabetic son.
The Wow Water range has been made available in outlets of hypermarket chains Meijer and Wesco. The drink incorporates vitamins B, C, and D, hydrating electrolytes, all natural sweeteners from cane sugar and stevia, no artificial colourings or high fructose corn syrup – all for just 36 calories per serving. The lactose- and gluten-free drinks is available in berry fusion, strawberry kiwi and tropical citrus flavours.
The beverage concept was devised by Andoni for his son Alex after he was diagnosed with type one diabetes. NutriTwist donates 5% of its profits to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, a global charitable funder of type one diabetes research.
NutriTwist CEO Andoni said: “Alex is very active in sports. Trying to find a beverage that didn’t contain high fructose corn syrup, artificial colours, aspartame and sucralose was next to impossible to find. So, we developed Wow Water. It’s been gratifying to hear from customers across the country who thank us for developing the drinks and share anecdotes about providing it in their kids’ lunches and for snacks as well as adults loving it as much as their kids do.
“Like Wow Water, Meijer and Wesco are great Michigan-based companies that look out for their customers, always making sure there are good choices on every shelf. We are pleased that they have recognised Wow Water’s unique ability to deliver a healthy alternative in hydration. Every ingredient contained in Wow Water was hand-selected in collaboration with a team of nutritional experts. We are thrilled to be part of both the Meijer and Wesco families.”
