The extensive restyling plan includes the label (complete with the new ‘G’ logo). On the Italian market, label application will be managed using Sacmi-developed formsleeve+ technology.
Sacmi says formsleeve+ offers a more versatile design, is more flexible as regards the choice and control of materials and is so efficient that MDO (machine direction oriented) plastic printed label reel costs are significantly lower than those of traditional TDO (transversal direction oriented) sleeves.
Chosen by PepsiCo to manage all its new Gatorade format output for the Italian market – from 500ml to 1,000ml PET bottles – the formsleeve+ machine enables the producer to make and apply ‘full body’ and/or ‘partial body’ sleeves starting from MDO plastic reels at application rates of up to 40,000 bottles an hour.
Further distinctive elements of formsleeve+ technology include its simplicity of use, low maintenance costs and energy savings. Moreover, the use of a fully natural ambient-temperature liquid to seal the sleeve (this liquid never comes into contact with the bottle) ensures the healthiness of the entire process, eliminating any risk of product or workplace contamination.
