Fonterra and Apollo Foods have signed a production agreement which will see new beverage filling technology installed at Apollo’s production facility in Hawke’s Bay, New Zealand.
The new equipment includes a production line which will allow the production of several million litres of beverages annually and can fill a range of different products,
This partnership will also fund the installation of new beverage filling technology at the facility, which allows various types of containers to be produced on site.
Both Fonterra and Apollo beverage products will be produced at the facility as part of the production partnership, including various dairy and fruit drinks.
Fonterra claims it approved the partnership as it seeks to capitalise on the increasing global demand for lifestyle beverages, and in particular the rising demand for dairy drinks.
Leon Clement, managing director of Fonterra Brands New Zealand, said: “As high-quality drinks play an increasingly large role in consumers’ diets around the world, New Zealand companies have a real opportunity to create value-adding initiatives across our primary industry sectors.
“By taking an innovative partnership approach to production with Apollo Foods, we have been able to open up new opportunities for future brands – and create even more value for our farmers.”
Ross Beaton, managing director at Apollo Foods added: “I am absolutely thrilled and privileged to work with Fonterra Brands New Zealand to bring added value beverages to the global consumer – and better still that we are producing it all right here in Hawke’s Bay”.
