Israel-based supplement company Anlit has created a chewable omega-3 supplement made specifically for pregnant women.
The OmegaBite chew is odourless and contains high levels of omega-3, DHA and DPA.
Anlit claims the odourless nature of the supplement is tailored for pregnant women, as the ‘fishy aroma’ exuded by omega-3 supplements can make it difficult to consume conventional omega-3 supplements.
Omega-3 fatty acids are essential for neural and cognitive functions, and findings from medical journal PLOS Medicine suggests that taking fish oil supplements during pregnancy could help reduce the risk for food allergies and eczema in early childhood.
OmegaBite chews are trans fat-free, nut-free, gluten-free, and the new supplements will join Anlit’s OmegaBite high DHA+EPA product line.
Shai Karlinski, vice-president of sales and marketing for Anlit said: “Pregnant women in particular are very sensitive to fish oil taste and smell.
“We tested a range of high omega-3 developed by Anlit’s R&D experts before succeeding in creating one that can meet the growing demand for a tasty, odourless omega-3 supplement.
“Often, the typical size of omega-3 softgel is hard to swallow and not appealing to consumers. This unique formula helps Millennial moms avoid the unpleasant aroma and aftertaste of fish-oil omega-3s and instead enjoy consuming it like a treat.
“The delicious chewy matrix, also helps overcome ‘pill fatigue’, the reluctance to take nutritional supplements”.
