New beverage brand Drty has launched a 4% ABV ‘zero-carb’ hard seltzer in two flavours, as it looks to bring the drinks trend to the UK.
Hard seltzer is an alcoholic beverage containing sparkling water, alcohol and natural fruit flavours.
The London-based brand refers to the spike in popularity that the hard seltzer category has seen in the US over the past few years and aims to catalyse the trend in the UK.
With a 4% ABV, the Drty Hard Seltzer range contains zero sugar, zero carbohydrates and 90 calories per 330ml can.
Raspberry Rosé offers a sweet and fruity beverage, meanwhile, White Citrus features hints of grapefruit and lime.
The brand creates its carb-free alcohol base by fermenting a fruit mix with high attenuation yeast which results in no residual sugars and carbohydrates.
After fermentation, the mix is blended with purified sparkling water and natural fruit flavours to create the end product.
Commenting on the launch, co-founder of Drty Matija Pisk, said: “We wanted to give UK consumers an alternative to high-sugar ciders and calorie-dense beers. Ultimately drinking alcohol is not a healthy activity, so the concept for the brand was born out of this contradiction – a drink that is clean but is still pretty Drty”.
Drty Hard Seltzer is available to purchase for an RRP of £2.20 per can at Whole Foods, Eat 17, Ocado, Amazon and other independents and online retailers.
