Food manufacturer The Fillo Factory has acquired GeeFree Foods, a manufacturer of gluten-free frozen foods, for an undisclosed sum.
As part of the deal, The Fillo Factory intends to help grow the GeeFree brand by expanding its product line and sales team, while creating more distribution channels and accelerating its social media efforts.
Founded in 2013, GeeFree Foods targets consumers with celiac disease or gluten-sensitivity with its range of gluten-free products such as puff pastry sheets, bagel puffs and pizza pockets.
Since its 2017 partnership with Procida Funding – an organisation with 25 years of investment experience – GeeFree has entered nearly 5,000 retail outlets across the US.
Meanwhile, established in 1991, The Fillo Factory manufactures and distributes appetisers, small-bites, snacks, entrees and desserts to grocery stores and food distributors nationwide.
The Fillo Factory has served as GeeFree’s co-packer since the latter’s establishment and and now operates out of two factories in New Jersey, with plans for a third plant in 2024.
Procida Funding CEO, Billy Procida, said: “We are delighted with the acquisition. They are a great family owned company with full manufacturing capability and the only company in the country who knows how to handle making our delicious GeeFree gluten-free pastry sheets and other products.”
