Pret a Manger has launched a new range of coffee products for retail, marking the first time the company has released a product in a UK supermarket.
The range includes the two core coffees used in Pret’s stores: Pret’s Organic Classic Blend Ground Coffee (200g) which is used for filter coffee; and Pret’s Organic Espresso Beans (450g), the base of espresso-based coffees such as flat whites and lattes.
Both products are now available nationwide in the UK from Waitrose stores.
The release of the new range in retail marks an expansion of Pret’s retail strategy, a crucial part of Pret’s ongoing transformation programme, necessitated by changing consumer habits due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Falling foot traffic in Pret stores due in part to increased home working also saw the firm launch a coffee subscription service in September, as the company seeks to adapt to the new normal.
Clare Clough, Pret a Manger UK managing director, said: “Throughout this year, our customers have made it clear just how much they love and miss our organic coffee. This new partnership with Waitrose means more of our customers will be able to play the role of Pret barista and brew their own at home.
“While this continues to be a challenging year, our aspiration is to bring Pret to more people, in innovative new ways and via new channels. This partnership means our carefully sourced, much-loved coffee will now be even more readily available for customers to enjoy at home.”
