The Low Sodium Sea Salt Company will officially announce its joint venture agreement with Greentrade Industries, based in Kuala Lumpur, today at the opening day of the Food Matters Live exhibition.
The new company will import and market the range of Solo reduced sodium sea salts, together with Solo inclusive further processed foods, to all segments of the Malaysian market in addition to neighbouring export destinations.
“We are absolutely delighted to have secured this agreement and somewhat overwhelmed by the level of support for our products shown by the Malaysian authorities and retailers,” said managing director Leslie Wilson. “The interest shown in healthy food products in the Asia Pacific region is certainly well beyond anything we have experienced in the UK or Europe. Our Solo-Lite consumer packs are now on supermarket shelves in Kuala Lumpur and, as a result, a great many consumers will benefit from a very low cost solution to what has become a chronic health problem.”
Mr Muhammad Farooq, chairman of Greentrade, said: “We’re very excited by this fantastic opportunity. By focusing on hospitals, schools and clinics (as well as the more obvious sectors such as hypermarkets and fast food chains), we feel we can make an important difference to consumer health throughout the region.”
