Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics has expanded its Tygon product portfolio with the launch of new dispensing tubing that helps to improve hygiene in coffee machines with milk.
Tygon SPT-50-LF is a proprietary, platinum-cured silicone formulation tubing that was specifically designed to tackle protein absorption, which causes milk to ruin in coffee machine applications, Saint-Gobain said.
Suitable for dispensing at temperatures between -62 degrees and 260 degrees celsius, the new tubing also exhibits “excellent mechanical properties and long life”, which enable food and drinks manufacturers to advance food safety measures without sacrificing performance, it claimed. With excellent flexibility, it boasts “universal applicability across a variety of coffee vending machines”.
“Milk fouling, or the buildup of organic material, can cause an unwanted taste or odour in food and beverages, which can negatively impact product quality and consumer brand perception,” the company added.
Saint-Gobain global marketing manager Iuliana Nita said: “The new Tygon SPT-50-LF tubing product reinforces Saint-Gobain’s strong leadership in the food and beverage market, as well as our continued dedication to research and development that keeps our OEM customers on top of regulatory compliance, and helps protect food brand owners from risks associated with hygiene maintenance.”
