Restaurant chain KFC has launched a new pulled chicken lunchtime meal option, after the range received an industry award for its innovation.
New pulled chicken burrito combines spicy rice, beans, salsa and pulled chicken, which are then toasted in a soft tortilla wrap. It joins the range’s existing ultimate burger, chicken twister wrap and lower calorie lil’ wrap, which are inspired by Southern American cuisine.
Earlier this month, the pulled chicken range was named best new menu item at the Menu Innovation and Development Awards in London. Its launch coincided with the 50th anniversary of the chain in the UK, which we revealed was being celebrated with a new family-led marketing campaign back in February.
Yum! Brands innovation manager Louise Direito said: “Last year, KFC became the first quick service restaurant to bring on-trend street food to the high street. Our pulled chicken range was a real labour of love for us and we worked non-stop for 18 months to improve the variety of our menu.
We predicted that 2015 would become the year of pulled xhicken and it’s fantastic to receive such a positive response from the industry and from our customers.”
