Taylors of Harrogate has entered the coffee capsules market with the launch of three single origin coffee pods that are fully compatible with Nespresso machines.
The range will initially be available in three high-quality varieties of espresso from Kenya, Brazil and Colombia – all made from 100% Arabica coffee and certified by the Rainforest Alliance. The three strong espressos respectively offer “a fresh blackcurrant taste with fragrant floral notes”; a “depth and presence” of coffee with “notes of toasted walnuts and toffee”; and “sweet lemon, gentle malts and a whisper of vanilla”.
Available from this month in ten-count boxes, the capsules’ launch will be supported by a digital advertising campaign, large scale sampling effort and discount promotion that will offer consumers £1 off the new products online and in-store.
The Yorkshire-based brewer is hoping to capitalise on the growing trend towards tea and coffee capsules, with coffee pod sales increasing by more than 50% during 2014 and further growth anticipated.
Taylors of Harrogate brand manager Liz Skillbeck said: “Taylors of Harrogate’s brand new single origin coffee capsules follow our launch into single origin roast and ground coffee last year, which proved that consumers increasingly want to know where their coffee has come from and how this impacts their taste experience.
“With a number of big players already in the coffee pod market, we have invested time refining our capsule offering, creating premium single origin products that boast an exceptionally high level of quality and intensity of flavour.
“To help us deliver on quality, we have worked closely with packaging technologists to develop streamlined wrapping which helps to keep the coffee incredibly fresh, and recognisably Taylors. The specially developed packaging has also enabled us to stay true to Taylors’ pledges on sustainability and respect for the environment.”
