Instant chai latte brand Drink Me has recorded year-on-year growth of 100% in the export channel, as it continues to pursue rapid growth outside of the UK.
The growth underlines Drink Me’s ascent from a relatively unknown niche drink to one that has forged a presence for itself in the retail category domestically and abroad. Drink Me chai latte is sold in more than 20 countries worldwide including France, Switzerland and Holland. Export sales contributed one fifth of the company’s turnover, with a predicted 50%–60% increase by the end of 2016.
New export territories in Spain and Turkey are predicted by the end of the year, as well as further inroads into supermarkets across Europe. Caffé Nero has also opted to partner with the brand as it opens cafés in the US.
A brand spokesperson said: “Export has always played a role within the success of the business and [founder Amanda Hamilton] successfully launched chai latte to the European market, early on. With increased awareness of the product globally and a significant drive to gain presence overseas, the export territory for the product is quickly expanding.
“Drink Me is a good example of a British company that has adapted to changing markets and financial fluctuations and has successfully weathered the global economic downturn both nationally and internationally.”
