FoodBev Media has produced an infographic to illustrate the key findings of the Scientific Advisory Committee on Nutrition’s (SACN) report into the UK’s recommended intake of sugar and fibre.
Earlier, we reported that SACN had advised Public Health England that the advice on sugar consumption should be revised down from 10% of total energy to just 5%. It also claimed that advice on fibre intake should rise from 23g per day to 30g for adults. The report has been published at a time when it is widely reported that many consumers – particularly teenagers, with whom sugary drinks are more popular than other demographics – are already exceeding the 10% limit.
