British pop star Gareth Gates has developed a new brand of “teas” infused with coconut, available as a range of three separate variants.
Cuppanut, which is set to hit shelves this spring, will capitalise on growing interest in coconut and has been conceived to address the lack of hot beverages made from the foodstuff.
The biodegradable teabags are filled with real coconut, in place of tea leaves, which is then mixed with three different flavours: there is plain coconut infusion, a fragrant and naturally sweet blend that makes for a tranquil cup of hot tea; coconut and cranberry, a “delicious, fruity infusion” bursting with coconut and cranberries; plus a coconut, ginger and turmeric infusion, which delivers “an earthy, uplifting and warmed spiced” flavour, Cuppanut said.
As the main ingredient is pure coconut, the brand is keen to promote health benefits such as its role as an anti-viral treatment, as a catalyst for metabolism, and the way in which it can boost heart health by providing healthy short-chain and medium-chain fatty acids. The cranberries are also packed with antioxidants, turmeric is known for its natural anti-inflammatory compound and ginger has a long-established history of use as a relief for nausea, motion sickness and even pain.
Cuppanut founder Gareth Gates said: “I am thrilled to announce the launch of a range of teas filled with health-bursting properties with real coconut as its main ingredient. Spurred on by my love of coconut and my continuing desire for a healthy lifestyle, I often experimented in my kitchen for fun, never thinking that one day my teas could become a reality.”
Cuppanut will launch at Food and Drink Expo at the NEC, Birmingham next month and will be offered to retailers as a box of 15 teabags with a recommended retail price of £4.20 each.
