Harry Hill has been involved with the Newman's Own Foundation since 2014, and visited the Hackney Empire theatre group – one of the charities to benefit from the latest set of grants.
The Newman’s Own Foundation – the organisation that receives all profits and royalties from Newman’s Own sauces and dressings – has donated around £175,000 to a range of children’s charities in the UK.
In all, 19 different charities will benefit from the donation, each receiving a grant of up to £16,000 as part of the foundation’s ongoing commitment to support young people.
They include not-for-profits that are helping children to develop their writing and theatre skills, as well as Manchester Young Lives, which works with children and young people in disadvantaged areas of the UK’s third largest city to improve their life choices through learning and make a successful transition to adult life.
The organisation was started by the late actor and philanthropist Paul Newman, and has made contributions to UK charities totalling £2.8 million since 1995.
Comedian Harry Hill has worked with Newman’s Own Foundation since 2014 and continues to be inspired by Paul Newman and foundation’s work to support charities that develop the empowerment of children, both in the UK and worldwide.
Hill said: “I am thrilled to be involved with Newman’s Own Foundation again, Paul Newman has always been a huge inspiration to me personally. Over the past few years I’ve had the chance to meet many recipients of grants and witness the incredible impact the fund makes to children living in the UK. This year 19 charities will now receive funding and I look forward to seeing their great work supporting young people continue in 2017.”
And Robert Forrester, president and CEO of Newman’s Own Foundation, said: “Paul Newman was dedicated to helping organisations that empower people to overcome extraordinary adverse circumstances and contribute to the development of a civil society. We feel privileged to be able to continue Paul’s legacy by providing grants to charities throughout the UK which are making such a huge difference for children.”
