US meat producer Applegate aims to satisfy sugar conscious consumers with its new sugar-free bacon.
The product, which is said to have a hickory smoke flavour, boosts Applegate’s sugar-free range that includes meat and cheeses. The company claims that sugar is the top item that American consumers are trying to avoid in their diets.
Applegate vice president of marketing Nicole Glenn said: “With a growing demand for sugar-free options, we’re excited to deliver a bacon that supports the needs of those looking to reduce their sugar intake, while upholding Applegate values – making products with humanely raised meats and simple ingredients.
“Providing worry-free meats people want to eat is vital to us and this new bacon is a product we’re proud to offer.”
Applegate Naturals no sugar bacon is available in the US from retailers such as Fresh Market and Hy-Vee with a recommended retail price of $5.49.
