High protein ice cream brand Koupe is launching its product range in the UK through Ocado, after being recognised at the World Dairy Innovation Awards in 2016.
Made with milk instead of cream, Koupe claims its products contain a quarter of the sugars of traditional ice creams. The range is available in four flavours: clever chocolate, brilliant banana, victorious vanilla and smart strawberry.
Founded in Holland in 2015, the brand’s products are available in 400 supermarkets across Europe. Founder Jaco Pieper believes the recognition from picking up an award in 2016 helped the company expand.
“The ‘best ice cream’ award that Koupe won at the World Dairy Innovation Awards really helped put the brand on the map,” he said.
“To be recognised by your peers across the industry both in the UK and internationally is incredible.”
He continued: “We are delighted to bring our guilt-free ice cream to UK consumers to enjoy for the first time through online retailer Ocado. We have big plans to hit retail shelves across the UK this year, ensuring that consumers who want to make healthy choices don’t have to compromise on great taste.”
The Koupe line is available in 500ml tubs with a recommended retail price of £5.49.
Ocado buying manager Robyn Figueira said: “We are thrilled to be the first retailer in the UK to stock the award winning Koupe protein ice cream. Koupe is known for being guilt free, great tasting and with four fantastic flavours to choose from, we are sure it will be a hit with Ocado customers looking for a healthier ice cream alternative.”
