UK food manufacturer 2 Sisters Food Group has announced a £1.4 million plan to expand supply from its Welsh processing facility in Merthyr Tydfil.
The investment in the beef and sheep plant will be spent on modernising the beef boning hall as well as improving efficiency and quality.
2 Sisters CEO Ranjit Singh said: “Investment in the boning hall will ensure that we create a leaner, more efficient supply chain at our flagship facility in Wales.
“I’m confident that our ‘Better Before Bigger’ strategy with its efficiency platform will put us in a good place for the long term.”
And 2 Sisters managing director for red meat Andrew Cracknell added: “The investment in our cutting operation will future proof jobs at the site and provide the platform for additional growth in beef sales over the next decade.”
Earlier this year the company announced it invested £10 million in its other South Wales site in Rogerstone, creating what is described as ‘the biggest prepared meals facility in Europe’.
