The keynote address – 10 reasons why bottled water will enjoy exponential growth in the future, was given by Patrick Lemoine, senior vice president for Latin America from Nestlé Waters.
The opening session was followed by a question and discussion panel and a break for water.
The second session of the morning focused on global market perspectives and began with Matt Wilton, commercial consultant at Zenith International, who gave a world market and industry trends outlook.??Considering Adding value to bottled water was Emma Budzisz-Dudenhoeffer, global director, water & enhanced hydration at The Coca-Cola Company.??Following questions and discussion, the conference moved on to a session on key industry challenges and opened with a study on the impact of food legislation on bottled water by Marco Daza, Latin America development manager at NSF.??Lothar Brauer, marketing and sales director technical marketing for Bericap then looked how lightweight closures contribute to a healthy society.
The morning closed with Todd Caron, director of global business development – beverages for Aptar Food & Beverage, discussing Maximising consumer value with differentiated packaging.??Following lunch, the afternoon session began with some business growth case studies.??The first speaker was Pierluigi Tosato, chief executive officer of Acqua Minerale San Benedetto SpA, Italy, whose subject was Reducing cost and increasing value.??Stewart Allen, vice chairman of US-based DS Waters of America (and newly elected chair of the International Council of Bottled Waters) then looked at Best practice for home and office delivery.? Miranda Clegg, export director for Spain’s Aguas de Mondariz Fuente del Val, considered From regional leadership to export growth.
Closing the session before a panel Q&A was Ross Colbert, executive director, global strategist – beverages for Rabobank International, who looked at China and India: untapped market opportunities.??After a refreshment break, the final session of the day had the theme Consumers and the environment.
Opening the session was Joe Doss, president and chief executive officer of the International Bottled Water Association, who discussed Creating and communicating a clear message.??Duncan Goose, founder of UK-based Global Ethics, then gave a presentation entitled: ONE: Connecting consumers with making a difference.??Ricardo Luiz Freitas, owner and partner at Brazil’s Estância e Água da EcoVita Ltda, then talked about EcoVita: Eco-Conscious.
The session closed with Valéria Cristina Michel, senior specialist for Tetra Pak, looking at Environmental sustainability: building a competitive advantage, and a final Q&A panel.? The evening began with a cocktail reception before the gala dinner, which included the presentation of Water Innovation Awards.
