ADM has completed its acquisition of South African flavour distributor Comhan, in a move to expand its footprint in the African markets.
ADM has worked with the local company for years, and the acquisition now provides new and current customers with more direct access to ADM’s portfolio and network of experts.
Comhan specialises in the importation and distribution of industrial chemicals and food ingredients. Its partners include Alland & Robert, a global producer of acacia gum.
Calvin McEvoy, president global beverages at ADM, said: “This acquisition marks a very exciting moment for ADM, as we continue to develop our nutrition business in key growth markets including Africa. I am confident that this acquisition will open up opportunities for our customers in the region and build on the capabilities of our existing offices in Nigeria and Kenya.”
The acquisition follows a string of investments by ADM in its flavour capabilities, such as the company’s recent opening of a flavour production facility in Pinghu, China.
