Aldi reports £57.8m after-tax profit for 2011 and attributes success to development of bakery, fresh meat and fruit & veg ranges, and responding to consumer needs.
During 2011, Aldi opened 29 new stores. The discounter is now planning to invest £181m in opening 40 new stores by the end of 2013, taking its total number of UK stores to over 500. This involves the creation of 4,500 new jobs in 2012.
