Foundation Trustee, Dick Charlton said of the award: “It is a great pleasure to present two young apprentices at CCE Wakefield with this BSDIF scholarship award. The future success of the soft drinks industry and UK manufacturing in general depends on the encouragement and successful development of young people.”
Charlton presented Milsom and Whittam each with a cheque for £1,000 at a ceremony on Friday 22 March at Coca-Cola Enterprises in Wakefield (UK) where the two will be undertaking their apprenticeships in engineering.
The British Soft Drinks Industry Foundation has redefined its focus in recent years to address the growing shortage of people entering a career in the food and drink industry.
Gavin Partington, director general of BSDA, said: “The soft drinks industry is proud to offer jobs and training to young people giving them skills and opportunities. A dynamic and growing industry like ours needs talented and committed people if it is to sustain its success and continue to grow.”
