This vast exhibition, which covers process, drinking and waste water sectors, shows no signs of shrinking, with hundreds of exhibitors from all over the world converging to display their latest products. There are a decent number of visitors from across the globe enjoying the best innovation the water industry has to offer.
So, what’s the best innovation the FoodBev team has seen so far? There are a host of new coolers, filters, fridge jugs, filter bottles and under-sink systems on offer. The trend is for smaller, sleeker units either in stainless steel or brightly coloured plastic. There’s a particular focus on machines and products for the HoReCa sector, which is obviously a growing market for many manufacturers.
One of the most exciting launches so far is the new water disinfection technology from Philips Special Lighting: the InstantTrust ultra violet (UV) solution.
The Philips InstantTrust is very compact, which will allow it to be used in smaller, residential systems. The solution works instantly to produce safe water, reducing any waiting time.
Philips claims the new product is unique due to its ability to work independently of water temperature, and because it can be used with hot and cold water systems.
It was interesting to chat to Philips Special Lighting marketing director Ernest Sanderse to discover how the technology would be aimed squarely at the point-of-use, residential market. Philips is aiming to work directly with water cooler and other OEM manufacturers to have the technology built-in for customers.
Ernest wouldn’t reveal which manufacturers they were in talks with, however, so that’s a story to follow up for the future.
