Glass packaging manufacturer Ardagh Group has reopened a production facility in the Netherlands, as it seeks to enhance its presence in the nutrition industry.
The “company has invested heavily to upgrade the facility” in Leeuwarden, the capital city of the northern province of Friesland. It has dedicated the plant to the nutrition sector, following an increase in demand for baby nutrition products in China, the Middle East and Latin America, as well as the extended capacities of its clients.
The factory was reopened during a special ceremony in the presence of the town’s deputy mayor, and alderman for economic and regional development.
Henk Deinum said: “As Alderman for Economic Development, I am extremely proud of Ardagh Leeuwarden. I congratulate Ardagh and Leeuwarden therefore wholeheartedly with this modern manufacturing site, realised thanks to the highly professional and dedicated staff of Ardagh. I wish [Ardagh] every success for the future.”
Ardagh Nutrition commercial director Ewoud Vriens additionally claimed that “the upgrade of our Leeuwarden facility means that we now have added capacity to supply quality metal packaging to our nutrition customers from several European manufacturing sites.”
