Packaging producer Ardagh Group has created its first matte design for a steel can, as it unveils its new design for Krombacher’s Fassbrause cans.
The new matte finish will be present on all cans in the Fassbrause spiced lemonade range which is available in Germany.
Ardagh’s matte finish is intended to create a unique feel which highlights the premium nature of the drink.
Dirk Schwung, sales director at Ardagh Metal Beverage said: “The market for matte packaging designs keeps expanding, as the food and beverage industries increasingly seek this type of effect.
“We are delighted to add this sought-after solution to our steel portfolio and meet our customers’ growing demand for dynamic finishes.

Lars Dammertz, head of product management at Krombacher’s Fassbrause added: “We wanted to take advantage of the matte white basecoat, which showcases colours in an intense but very natural way.”
The matte effect is now available on 330ml steel cans of lemon and cola-orange Krombacher’s Fassbrause.
