Australian cheddar brand Old Croc has launched an individually wrapped snacking cheese option, extending its imported offering in the US.
The cheese is packaging in 6oz bags of eight individually wrapped, nine month-aged cheese portions that are only 90 calories each. Crafted using milk from grass-fed cows, the snacks are all natural without GMOs or added hormones.
The Croc Bites range builds on Old Croc’s existing “it bites” marketing slogan, which refers to the cheese’s sharp flavour profile. “A bold adventure in snacking, Croc Bites sharp cheddar cheese snacks… pack a rich, bold and irresistible taste, unlike any other snack cheese,” the Australian producer claimed. They are available in eight- and 24-count retail packs, as well as an additional 18-count club store format.
Its introduction follows Dairy Crest’s expansion to its Cathedral City miniature snacking cheese portfolio, which we reported last month had been made available in new mild and mature lighter varieties.
The UK’s adult cheese snacking category has seen segment growth of more than 8% during the last year, amid a rise in popularity of more innovative cheese formats.
Old Croc’s new Croc Bites are imported from Australia and distributed across the US by New Jersey-based Trugman-Nash, an affiliate of MCT Dairies. A range of sharp cheddar, extra sharp cheddar and smoked sharp cheddar blocks is already available from the firm.
