According to the AWWA, a safe, reliable water supply is critical to the success of any community. It creates jobs, attracts industry and investment, and provides for the health and welfare of citizens in ways ranging from disease prevention to fire suppression.
Drinking Water Week offers, “a unique opportunity for both water professionals and the communities they serve to join together to recognise the vital role water plays in our daily lives”.
The association is supporting water professionals’ efforts to participate in Drinking Water Week by providing a press release for each weekday of Drinking Water Week. AWWA said it’s encouraging utilities to add quotes from their own spokesperson, or to provide local examples that help illustrate the point of each press release.
Handouts, children’s activity pages, PDF artwork, Drinking Water Week logos and sample Drinking Water Week proclamations also are available. The materials for Drinking Water Week were taken from Only Tap Water Delivers campaign materials. These materials also include more handouts, PSAs and print ads, as well as PowerPoint presentations, speeches and a video.
