The Grapes, situated on George Street opposite the New Theatre, is Bath Ales’ 9th venue and its furthest east. It has been restored to its former glory and will offer the best of the award-winning West Country brewer’s own range of cask beers including its flagship brand Gem.
The Grapes has been sympathetically refurbished, adding a contemporary, stylish feel to a classic pub interior, according to the company. The food on offer focuses on British classics such as home-made pies with mash, fish and chips, roast beef sandwiches and a traditional Sunday lunch, the company said.
Bath Ales retail director, Robin Couling, said: “We are delighted to have acquired The Grapes. Our beers are already available in Oxford but having our own pub allows us to bring our full range of beers to a new audience.
“We have a love and enthusiasm for great beer and a quality pint and see city centre pubs as the last bastion of great traditional boozers. We believe beer enthusiasts will enjoy what The Grapes has to offer.”
Bath Ales operate eight pubs and bars in Bristol and Bath – The Hare on the Hill, The Hop Pole, The Live and Let Live, The Salamander, The Swan, The Wellington, Beerd and Graze Bar & Chophouse.
