The programme was developed to help primary schools teach children where their food comes from, and about the nutritional benefits of peas.
Six-year-old Jak, from St Meriadoc Nursery and Infant School, was presented with his prizes by Birds Eye brand mascot Clarence the Bear. His winning cartoon, depicting the story of a growing pea from seed to pod, was selected ahead of 800 national entries from children around the country. Jak won a Kurio tablet, £150 B&Q vouchers and 250 key rings for his school.
Around 3,500 schools took part in the Grow Your Own education programme, which saw Birds Eye and National Schools Partnership provide downloadable lesson plans and activities, interactive whiteboard games and video content about growing plants, life cycles and healthy eating.
